Project in tourism and environment marketing, with the objective of leading Tenerife on its way to become the world´s first certified ECO- destination.
Key words like ECO- or sustainable tourism, are no longer terms used only by tour-operators. There is a growing desire to travel through means that show a greater environmental awareness and offer sustainability. This is reflected by the increased demand of these types of programmes. The success of a destination relies on the one hand on the appropriate presentation and its commitment to environmental guidelines and on the other hand how the traveller is able to build his/her itinerary.
Together with certifying companies, tour-operators and the regional government, requirements regarding the environmental and sustainable demands are being established and in stages applied in the defined key sectors such as: hotels and gastronomy, theme parks, sports/recreational facilities, transport, waste, waste-water management, agriculture, food production and energy production.
The path to achieve Tenerife as the first certified ecological destination in the world is not a short-term marketing project, but should be viewed as an on-going process, which once started, will continually develop.
The goal is for the grandchildren of our grandchildren to be able to enjoy the benefits of this beautiful island.
This project is currently in the conclusion of its Project Definition stage.
